Listening to Those Who Live It

Treatment Stories Panel

In July 2004 TICAH hosted a treatment story panel in the Global Village at the XVI International AIDS Conference in Bangkok. As part of the Global Village's theme, Learning from Those Who Live It six people whose stories appear in our publication, Nine Lives - Treatment Stories of Positive People, volunteered to share their stories in a three-hour panel session. The six, from Thailand, India, Kenya, Uganda and America, each told their stories of how they manage to live with HIV. Each of them brought their medications to show the audience and explain their strategies. Some came with basketfuls of plants and herbs while others came with boxes of allopathic medicines and some brought a combination of both. The session proved to be a joyous and respectful validation of these personal stories.
