Body Mapping

Workshops

TICAH has co-hosted body mapping workshops with many partners in Asia and Africa, and we are always interested in finding new partners who wish to use this powerful therapeutic approach to sharing our strategies for staying healthy, and telling our stories to family and friends, community, and policy-makers. We have hosted workshops for HIV+ women and men, and positive women and their children. Many of our most recent body mapping workshops in Kenya have been facilitated by a wonderful group of artists and therapists in Nairobi called Art2Be.

A body mapping workshop usually lasts five days. We take our time to get comfortable with one another and with the process of sharing details of our lives, our fears and faith, our illnesses and medicines, our diets and desires. We paint and talk; we talk and paint. Body mapping can be used by any group of people interested in exploring the relationship between physical well-being and cultural, medical, or social realities which influence that well-being.
