To promote a deeper understanding of the connections between health and culture and to use that understanding to help ourselves and the communities we work with to make the best choices possible for health and well-being.
The Trust for Indigenous Culture and Health (TICAH) was established in Kenya in 2003. Our aim is to promote health. Our focus is on good relationships, healthy households, and community action. We seek to learn from indigenous wisdom wherever we can. We believe beauty is important, our stories matter, and health is a matter of the body, the spirit, and the heart.
All our work centers on the belief that overall health and wellness of individuals, families, communities, as well as TICAH itself, is achieved through living the following values:
