David Winters is currently an independent consultant in public health and governance programs based out of Geneva, Switzerland. Until May 2012, he was the Global Fund for AIDS, TB, and Malaria’s director of country coordinating mechanisms (CCM’s). Prior to the Global Fund, David’s work focused on sexuality and reproductive health and LGBT rights within the Ford Foundation’s Human Rights Unit. David has been working in the area of HIV/AIDS and reproductive health programs, both in the US and internationally, since 1986.
David’s career in international health and development began in 1984 when he was a Peace Corps volunteer in Thailand. Born and raised in Southern California,David completed his BA in Asian Studies at UC Berkeley,and his masters in public health at Columbia University.
