About TICAH & Our Strategy

Vision

A safe and just world where rights are realised, the beauty of culture and diversity are celebrated and holistic health is attained

Mission

We amplify community action to realise the transformative power of culture for fundamental rights, holistic health and social wellbeing.

Values

RESPECT - Respect for us means respectfully listening to the wisdom of others and co-creating solutions with our communities. We respect the agency and choices of everyone, knowing that they are the experts of their own lived realities.

JUSTICE - At TICAH, we prioritize inclusivity, equity, and non-discrimination, ensuring that the most affected people are at the center of conversations and empowered to access their rights. By challenging biases and using resources justly, we amplify diverse voices and promote fairness across our communities and workplace.

TRUST - We believe that change moves at the Speed of Trust. Trust is central to nurturing meaningful relationships, as we believe our communities are the experts and should lead.

ACCOUNTABILITY - Accountability is a collective practice rooted in integrity and shared responsibility. We walk our Talk. We create systems that promote transparency and inclusivity, ensuring accountability to ourselves, our team and stakeholders, especially the communities we serve.

In June 2021, the TICAH team dove into an intense and inclusive strategic planning process to vision the next five years of the work. This new plan articulates how TICAH’s culture-art-health framework is more important than ever to realise gender justice, climate justice, and holistic health. Our four program areas will be working through a lens of intersectionality to support our communities to realise justice, equality and fundamental rights.

Dr. Burris and TICAH’s original trustees wanted to build a body of work in which the participatory and culturally-sensitive processes of our work are part of the change we want to help create. It has an independent Board of Directors and will work to support TICAH in our work and to resource and run companion programs and exhibitions.
