TICAH’s Herbal Garden at DreamKona

The natural world is full of beauty, sustenance, and healing if you know where to look and what to look for. To introduce the general public to art and plant medicine, TICAH staff and artists set up an herbal garden at DreamKona within Uhuru Gardens. The Herbal garden is open to the general public, to the artists and to friends and partners of TICAH for learning purposes. The herbal gardens have plants such as sage, feverview, Artimisia, Lavender, Aloe vea, pennyroyal, pineapple sage, and mints among many others.

  • Pennyroyal is applied to the skin to kill germs, keep insects away, and treat skin diseases.
  • Artemisia annua originated from Chinese medicine and it is an herb traditionally used to treat fever, inflammation, and malaria.
  • Feverfew is believed to help relieve migraines because of the unique plant chemical it contains parthenolide, and is also known to relieve menstrual cramps.
  • Sage is used for digestive problems, including loss of appetite, gas (flatulence), stomach pain (gastritis), diarrhoea, bloating, and heartburn. It can also be used for reducing overproduction of perspiration and saliva; and for depression, memory loss, and Alzheimer’s disease.
