Mary Akoth Elias

Program Manager

What do you do at TICAH?

I manage TICAH’s Healthy Households program: implementation, design, planning and reporting.

What do you hope your work will do for the community you work with?

My hope is to see that Kenyans embrace healthy eating and use of herbal medicine in their daily lives.  I hope to see HIV+ communities making informed choices about their own health and treatment without discrimination and are able to stay free from opportunistic infections by using local herbal medicine and indigenous foods to treat and prevent illnesses.

What do you love about TICAH?

I love how diverse, brave and passionate the organization team is and how everyone works hard to address difficult issues affecting communities.

Share about your profession background?

I am passionate about self-care to develop my career by being a mission-oriented leader in the organization for the last 16 year.  I have good working experiences in the field of HIV management and prevention, sexual reproductive health rights, advocacy and human rights.  This experience has enabled me to mature and grow professionally in my service to humanity.

What is your favorite food?

I’m from the lake side of Kenya so I love marinated fish with brown ugali and sageti or other indigenous vegetables.
